When I heard about the #SpreeVisualSearch on their app, I was like, “No freaking way!” How is this even possible? Are we living in the future? Do we all have to wear spacesuits now? Does food come in tablets? I miss chips already”. Even Seth was like, “NO WAY! I don’t believe you”. And I think you might be equally delighted to hear about this cool feature so let me fill you in.
What is the #SpreeVisualSearch and How Does It Work?
If like me you spend your sporadic free moments scrolling through Pinterest or paging through magazines – this is something you will love! When you come across something absolutely beautiful that someone is wearing and you want it really badly, now you don’t have to search through all the malls. Just hop onto your Spree app and bang in your pic. Once you’ve popped the image in the search feature it will bring up all the items that Spree has in the same colours, patterns and even textures! It’s the first technology like this in the country and that’s pretty damn helpful!
How has this worked for me?
I’ve been really trying to up my jacket/cardigan game. The reason is that I get cold but don’t actually have the right clothing to try and keep myself warm when the cold front hits (like right now! Isn’t the rain in Cape Town just so wonderfully comforting!). But it’s not just about Winter for me actually – I’m cold all year round, so I need a great jacket/cardi that I can throw over my shoulders even on a chilly Summer evening.
So I did my first search on this black jacket with quite a bold pattern on it. Usually I stick to neutral patterns and palettes but I really wanted to spice things up a bit with a print/pattern that I wouldn’t normally gravitate to.
As you can see, you need to highlight the section that you want it to search and then it will do it’s thing. Obviously it brought up loads of options but I just screenshotted the first four to give you an idea of the results. You see that one on the bottom right? That’s totally my new cardi. I loved the same open feel of the front and the pattern.
You have to obvs bear in mind that you are probably not going to find exactly the same item, because of current stock falling largely in Winter or Summer etc. But you are going to find great options in the same kind of range in terms of colour, pattern and texture.
I might have become a bit obsessed with it, I really wanted to see what it could do so I tried a variety of different types of clothing styles that I love.
Trying out a few more options
This is such a nifty little feature and I’m sure it’s going to be super helpful to me as I continue to stalk Pinterest. I’ve already also ordered some silver shoes, another jacket and a couple extra little items that I spotted.
Also when you don’t have an Instagram husband at the ready, you ask your Instagram children to stand in to assist. They made me pose in all sorts of weird and wonderful ways which is only fair because I do that to them all the time too.
