I have totally not given my man the props that he deserves for the ama-zing meals that he has recently created. Yeah, I said created, because it is not only delish – it is also beautifully done. You would be this excited about this new found awesomeness if you knew deep down like I do – that actually, although it’s edible… You can’t actually cook.
The big difference between Seth and I though, is that he will see a recipe, judge it on how good the picture looks and get stuck in to make it. I, on the other hand, look at the ingredients, analyse each one and knock the entire recipe out because I don’t personally like asparagus or fennel bulbs (like really – who really eats that?!)… Don’t judge me. So although I want my kids to be “human garbage bins” like Seth and literally eat anything in front of them (without gagging), I’m not really setting them up for success.
I must give thanks for Pick n Pay and their awesome food magazine that I have been buying for inspiration every now and then. Seth was randomly looking through a couple of them and was inspired! So inspired that he decided to make 2 different meals that very day!
The first was tuna and couscous balls with peas for the girls and chicken and butternut curry for us. Unfortunately the pictures I took for the curry were terrible, so I won’t do him an injustice by posting them… However, here are the yummy fish cakes.
The handsome Masterchef getting his cutting on…
All ingredients set out and recipes open…
All ingredients perfectly chopped…
The finished product… (Soz, I know it looks like the feature here is the sweet corn, but obz it’s not)…
The girls tried really hard to enjoy it, but I think it was just too unfamiliar. Bless them for trying.
So here’s to encouraging many more attempts! Well done my love.
