This week I have had the privilege of being at home with my munchkins under the guise of “maternity leave” – because let’s face it… Toddlers just don’t get that Mommy is tired and needs to chill out sometimes.
However, that being said, I am just as excited to be home with them as they seem to be. In the week leading up to my last day, Kyla would ask me, “Mommy no work no more?” everyday when I got home and when I said unfortunately I had a few more days to go she would get quite upset. But last Friday when I said it definitely was my last day, she literally did a dance of joy. Can’t say that it didn’t melt my heart right there on the spot!
So after having a bit of a rough start to the week off, we seem to have settled into a slightly better groove where I get a turn to rest and then we spend time together. I am so very thankful for my Mother In Law who looks after them in the mornings during the week and my Mom who steps in to give us a couple of hours peace on the weekend and helps me out in the evenings. I don’t think I could cope without you both.
On Thursday, I decided to go with the girls to Ga’s house and do everything that they normally do on a Thursday. And so, off we went to the library after fetching Ma at church… First stop in the library is the cute little tables to “read” the books.
They take this very seriously and were whispering to me all the things that they could spot in the books. On second thought, it could be because I was whispering to them to use their “library voice” over and over… What can I say, librarians are scary people.
Then it’s time to draw at another very cute little table. They even managed to share the crayons without any hair pulling. Proud moment!
I can’t wait to spend more time with them. This whole Stay-At-Home-Mom business is fun!
