Welcome back to another installment in our new series – I’m A Mom With Tattoos. In case you have missed the last couple, don’t forget to check them out here.
Have you already had your cup of something delicious? Maybe your loved one made it for you this morning to celebrate or maybe you made it yourself and didn’t celebrate – either way I hope your morning is going well. High on my hit list at the moment is coffee on a drip straight into my veins – it beats having to drink it without milk or sugar. Don’t worry, I know you enjoy much tastier stuff – we’ll wait while you make another one.
This week we are getting to know Beth and more about her lovely tattoos. My favourite – it may be the smallest but I really love the ring finger tattoo!
Your name and blog deets: Beth Rosen from the Fabulous Mommy Blog and Instagram
How old are you: 32
What do you do for a living: Student, soon to be homeopath, housewife, mom
A Mom’s favourite thing to do is talk about their children – tell us about your family: I have 2-year-old twin boys who keep me very busy. They are the cutest things ever and I love them to bits, especially now that they have started talking and saying the funniest things.
If you work, tell us a bit more about your working environment – are you regularly in contact with new “clients/public”? I am a student studying to be a homeopath. I have been working in the university clinic for the last 4 years and am regularly in contact with the public. None of my supervisors or patients have ever mentioned my tattoos or even my odd hair colour.
Tell us a bit about your tattoo’s, what they are, why you have them, where they are located.
My first tattoo is a rose on my back between my shoulder blades, about the size of my palm. It is about 10 years old and not very well done by I am quite sentimental about it and still love it.
Then I have two swallows on my left calf with a trail of stars which I got 5 years ago. It represents a promise I made to always come home to my family even though I have terrible wanderlust at the best of times.
Thirdly I have a infinity symbol on my ring finger for days where I don’t want to wear my wedding ring. Jewellery makes me claustrophobic sometimes so often I prefer not to wear my rings.
How old were you when you got your first tattoo? About 22 I think?
Which tattoo is your favourite and why? I love planning which tattoo to get next. I’ve just gotten a ¼ sleeve next of 2 chrysanthemums (my boys’ birth flowers).
Do you plan on getting more? Yes LOTS
How do your family and friends feel about your tattoo(s)? Both my mom, dad and wife have tattoos so it isn’t too much of an issue. My Aunt laughed out loud when she saw my swallows, it is quite a big tattoo and it caught her off guard. But since then people have really embraced my tattoos.
What is the general reaction that “the Public” have towards your tattoos? Have you run into any negativity or adversity because of them? No, not at all. I have had little kids follow me to look at my tattoos and been stopped by random strangers to be given compliments. No one has ever reacted negatively or with any sort of hostility.
Any advice for those interested in getting tattooed? Find a good artist who’s artwork you like. Treat getting a tattoo like buying art that you will have to see for the rest of your life. Yes you can get a little piece of flash from just any old person, or you can make an investment in something that will be beautiful to you and bring you years of joy. Good tattoos aren’t cheap… you’re paying for experience and talent not just ink, if you chose wisely and get something unique, you won’t regret it.

I love all the bright eye catching colours on your arm and calf, stunning. I think I ever were to get a tattoo it would be similar to the infinity ring finger one, I love that!
Beth, your swallows are gorgeous, who did them?
