Welcome back to another installment in our new series – I’m A Mom With Tattoos. In case you have missed the last couple, don’t forget to check them out here.
It’s Friday, Friday, getting down on Fri-daaa-i… What? You’re telling me you don’t start every Friday morning listening to Rebecca Black? OK then. No judgement. I’m just glad it’s Friday. I’m sure you are too.
Today we meet Cassie who is a fellow “Mommy Blogger” and Mom to the most adorable little Ladybug. So before you even think about diving into that overflowing inbox of yours, you should sit back with your fix and get reading. Actually coffee has given me unrealistic expectations of my productivity. So naturally I’m just going to lower my standards. You should too as you go and make yours 🙂
Your name and blog deets: Cassie from Life with a Ladybug
Your age: 32 years 340 and something days old – (I’m almost the 3s – 33)
Your Occupation: HR Manager, Part-time Student and Full Time Single Mom
Tell us about your family: Our family is a smallish family, there are two humans – 1 Full Grown Adult and 1 pint size Ladybug, 2 Furbabies (Cats – Cosmic Creepers and Fluffy) and a million unwelcomed 8 legged creatures. Ladybug is just over 2 years old and an only child, and will be an only child for a long, long, long time – if not forever. I am the full grown Adult, a single Mom, always have been and quiet happy to always be.
If you work, tell us a bit more about your working environment – are you regularly in contact with new “clients/public”. I’m an HR Manager within the Medical Field. I have about 200 odd employees, I also see patients on a daily basis so I am always in contact with “clients” and the public.
• Tell us a bit about your tattoo’s, what they are, why you have them, where they are located
I have two, one on my lower back and one on my left wrist.
The one on my lower back is a tribal “tramp stamp” (it was all the rage) – I got when I changed my surname to my (Step) Dad’s surname. It meant a lot to me and I wanted a permanent “reminder” of the moment.
The one on my left wrist represents my siblings and my (stillborn) daughter. It’s 3 big stars for my brothers and sister and a smaller star for Gabby. It’s who I hold close in my heart for ever.
How old were you when you got your first tattoo? 21
Which tattoo is your favourite and why? I think the one on my wrist, because it didn’t hurt like hell and its coloured, pretty and all girly.
Do you plan on getting more? Definitely – I need one to represent Ladybug, but I haven’t quiet found the perfect one for her yet.
How do your family and friends feel about your tattoo(s)? My Grandfather just about had a heart attack when he saw them, but then I explained them, he half agreed to my logic behind them and the meanings. Otherwise my family and friends are generally accepting of them.
What is the general reaction that “the Public” have towards your tattoo’s? Have you run into any negativity or adversity because of them? People generally ask what they mean when they see them, or they are surprised I have tattoos when they do eventually see them – it’s not like I can hide the one on my wrist, but I guess it does get hidden a lot.
Any advice for those interested in getting tattooed? Go to someone who is well known and recommended, I won’t recommend the people that did my first tattoo, they scared me (the tattoo is raised) however I will recommend Ferdi (from Kevin’s Kustom Tattoos) time and time again. The one on my wrist is amazing, it’s flat despite having changed the colours at touch up and it still looks new 5 years later! Choose a design that is for you, not what is fashionable, but what represents you and makes you happy because at the end of the day you have to live with it not anyone else.
