Despite how hectic planning a party can be, I am kind of sad that the girls party is over.
So let’s quickly relive it through pictures, OK?
In case you have missed the last couple of posts, we threw the girls a “Vintage Bakery Party” at their request. I tried to keep the colours to pink, purple, grey and white. Despite my best efforts, it had a smattering of brown too. But that’s OK, because the only one that noticed was me. 😉
In this case I think that pictures really do speak louder than my written words could, so here are a few pictures of the highlights of the day.
Every birthday party starts the same way – with a steaming poo. Oh no wait that’s not right. And actually neither was the top of the giant cupcake that I baked. It really did look like a poo. Thankfully we managed to salvage it slightly…
The only thing that I wanted to take on (because it’s become a tradition) is the birthday cake.
We were able to outsource the cupcakes and a few other yummy treats to Megan from Bosworth Bakery. I need to stop here and just point out that these were the most gorgeous cupcakes that I have ever had the pleasure of eating. And if you can believe it, they tasted even better! If you are in Cape Town, you absolutely have to indulge for your next special event. I had so much extra time which enabled me to make all the things that I really wanted to make – which involved a lot less baking (thank goodness).
When Megan and I discussed what I wanted I said, “pink, white and grey with a vintage theme”. I showed her a few pictures that I found on Pinterest and that’s it. I knew that if I left it up to her, they would look amazing and they did! We also had chocolate ganache tarts and new to Megans offering we tried the mini chicken and mushroom pies and a variety of quiches. All seriously droolworthy.
Plus the cakes really added to the look and feel of the “treat table”. On the table you can also find –
* Chocolate Brownies in a bag – the party packs made for awesome extra decor
But what is a baking party even for if you don’t dress the girls up like little bakers. Many thanks to Seth and my Mom for whipping this outfit up last minute. The end result is that we had two of the most adorable bakers you will ever see (with a little photobomber)
And they had even more adorable friends that shared their day with them.
Although I didn’t get to take nearly as many pictures as I wanted to of the actual social side of the party – epic fail! Seriously need to consider a proper photographer next year.
Then it was time to blow out the candles. Their surprise that there was something hidden inside the cake was just too precious!

Wow. Simply amaze-balls. Love the cake and the cupcakes especially.
Love it! What a brilliant idea!
Well done mama! It looked amazing! I also bake my kids cakes and EVERY YEAR I swear I am not doing it but then I find myself in a puddle of tears on the floor because I can’t get red icing or the fondant keeps breaking!
What an amazing party for two lucky girls! Loved the theme and the cakes…..and especially the gift bags, what a clever idea…..Well done!
U guys did well mom and dad, what a lovely family you have, looks like such a great idea for a party
Love your party!!! I also love parties and the planning and the party bags! I used those same bags for my own party last week and am busy blogging my kids’ party in great detail on my organising blog!
I’m going to try your brownie recipe. Thanks!!!
Ps my Connor has the same top as Knox
Thank you for stopping by!
There is just something magical about creating a cool party with little bits and bobs that you can do from home. Paying someone to do it is great, but you lose all the fun 😉 I am a bit behind on my blog reading, but will definitely catch up on those posts soon!
[…] Actually what we’ve started doing is making the party pack for consumption AT the party. Is that cheating? So be it. It saves on doing everything twice. Basically all the food is catered for with the adults in mind and then the party packs take care of the kiddie things and ensures everyone gets one. Or something fun for the family to do/enjoy together when they get home – like the brownies in a bag that we sent home with the girls Baking themed party. […]
