A Day In The Life Of The Alfino's

It's In The Little Things

Do you know what happens when I open my laptop at home (while the kids are awake)?

Let me share –

lsfkjsoijlksfh lseehfkk sifhlk hhhhhhhh  kkkkk ujha,kj,kjkj

Followed by closing all my programs, then opening and changing every single one of my settings.  I need to remind myself that this is why I blog at night.

Anyway.

We’re still coming off the highs of all the birthdays and the lows of double bouts of antibiotics (for Knox and Riya).  Thankfully life is slowly coming back to it’s regular busyness and I welcome it with open arms.  That said, there are a couple of exciting things that I am going to be sharing with you in the next few weeks (they are so awesome I am struggling not to blurt them all out every time I start clacking away on my keyboard).  All of these things happen to involve a few out of the ordinary busyness business, but overall things are settling down.

So instead of a long post about one specific thing, I thought I’d share a few little things.  Because besides the big things, most of our lives are made up of all these little things, we just tend to forget them.

We have finally tamed our garden and when the sun decides to show it’s face, we spend a considerable amount of time out there.  Dare I say, I’m even starting to enjoy it, so much so, that Coco and I took a selfie.

Riya has been invited to so many parties this year.  Which means so many socially awkward moments for me.  Thankfully I nearly always have the presence of mind to bring my camera and then hide behind it for the rest of the party.  It’s been working well so far.  How gorgeous is this wall?

One of the many blessings of having a birthday in Spring (besides it always raining at all my parties), is that I am often really spoiled with beautiful flowers.  I can’t tell you how they have brightened up our house.  Even my favourite corner of the house looks even more cosy with that gorgeous orchid on the mantle.

It’s not a birthday unless Matjie (Seth’s grandmother) makes her famous cupcakes.  It’s chocolate cupcakes with the top spooned off and filled with apricot jam and cream, then the top is put back on and sprinkled with icing sugar.  Sometimes (if you’re lucky) she hides little bits of Flake under the cream.

Is it banting friendly?  Hells no.  Is it gluten free?  Are you even kidding me with that question.  Do I shove it in my face faster than you can blink?  Absolutely!  And then I continue to shave at least 4 more in for good measure.

We have been meaning to educate the kids in the art of choosing a movie, buying snacks and then vegging out in front of the TV for a bit to watch it.  There is something so awesome about choosing it yourself from a huge selection right in front of your eyes.  It’s a pity that they are all being forced to close now.  Oh, and returning it early the next morning (something that we have NEVER managed to get right).

How did I only find out about these the other day?  And no one has answered me on whether they come in the dark chocolate version?  I need to know!

Oooh I love those chocolates, I am almost sure they do come in dark chocolate and vaguely remember seeing them at our local Woolies. In dark brown wrapping. From reading your blog, I wouldn’t think that you are socially awkward.

Beautiful post! That wall! GORGEOUS! (And I’m so with you on that one – despite initial appearances, I’m a total introvert and haaaaaaaate meeting new people! SO awkward!)

Love that selfie with Coco hahaha! Yes – I actually thought of you when I was queuing at Woolies yesterday, they had dark ones! Enjoy x

I am totally with you on how kids mess up your computer. Nicky has somehow changed my Google Chrome so that I can’t minimise it and have to alt tab every time I want to do something else. What a pain. Yet sometimes he does something and I wonder how he did it – like get my phone on a GPS mode on the maps.

Oh yum, those cupcakes sound (and look) very delish!
