Life Lately

I know what you’re thinking…  How does a “Life Lately” compare with a Currently post?  Well, it’s the same really, except I’m not breaking everything down with headings.  I’m just going to spew words as they come.  Living life on the wild side over here.  Destroying my own made up rules every day.

Anyway.

Yesterday saw Seth leaving really early to catch his flight to JHB which left me to get the kids ready for school.  We were frantically trying to get ready in time when Knox wanders into my room looking really embarrassed.

He then whispers, “Mommy, I think I made a poo in my pants”.  This is weird though, because he’s been completely fine without a nighttime nappy for about 8 months already.  But I figured he might have a bit of an upset tummy and accidents happen.  They’re gross and not ideal, but they happen.  I mutter something like, “Don’t worry babes, it’s OK, but how can you not know for sure if you did one?”.

So we pull his pants down and there’s nothing there.  He’s as confused as I am, and then he says, “But I smelled poo in my rwoom”.  Obviously I couldn’t just leave it at that, if he could smell it strongly enough to not even know if he’d made one, there was a problem.  I rushed into his room and found poor old Coco having one of her seizure things.

I’m not sure if I’ve shared this before, but she has what the vet thinks is arthritis in her hips.  And occasionally they seize up and she can’t move.  Like not at all.  So she crapped herself in panic.  And drooled everywhere.  Poor thing.  Plus this is the second time in a week that it’s happened.  It usually only happens like once a year, so now I’m really worried about her.  She’s also not even that old – she’s only just turned 8.  Has anyone else experienced this with a Labrador or any other dog?  What do you do?

Aside from that it’s Kylas first ballet eisteddfod next week.  She’s opted to do both the solo and the group performance!  I really expected her to not want to, but she is so keen.  It’s so sweet.  I love that she’s so excited about it and I cannot wait to see her perform.  We went to do the practice yesterday afternoon and then had to come home and prepare a science experiment for Riya to take to school and do today.  And then tonight we have to get two Spring hats ready for a party tomorrow.

Just feeling so pulled in so many directions.  Ugh

Not feeling as anxious about it all as I was last week, but it’s still leaving me feeling really drained at the end of every day.  Like properly exhausted.  Which means I’m frazzled and short with my kids when I’d actually just really like to chill and chat with them.  But then I try and give them instructions and they just ignore me.  Just last night I made them all look into my face while I slowly told them to go to the toilet and then get into bed.  Five minutes later and only 1 out of 3 had done what I asked so I lost my flipping mind.  They did it very quickly after that.

Parenting hey?  Who said it wouldn’t drive you absolutely batpoo crazy?  They were lying.

Back to good things.

We had a braai for Seth’s parents and grandmother the other day and it was so nice to have them over for a change.  We whipped out the camera and Knox enjoyed taking pictures of Ga (Seth’s mom) and Ma (Seth’s granny).  And they turned out really nicely which is great too!

The girls decided that it was a real occasion to have them over so they might have dressed up just a little bit.
