Oh hello there.
I promise that I haven’t forgotten about this blog. Or more importantly, you lovely people that take the time to read it. It’s just that life has been a bit cray cray the last couple of months. To “make up for it” I know that I have been feeding you lank giveaways and not much real life, so let me make up for that now with an overshare of note.
Currently:
Doing: Because our first international overseas trip wasn’t enough to think about, I decided to do about a million other things too. So while we’re away I’ll finally be upgrading my blog. YAY!! Seth is a bit upset with me because although he knew I was redoing the blog, he didn’t realise that we were changing the logo. It’s going to be hard to say goodbye to his beautifully drawn logo and our cartoon characters that he has drawn for me over the years. But I think it’s time. For the amount of time that I spend pouring my heart into this space, it deserves to look pretty and work much better than it does right now.
Then we’re doing a massive office move. Which is exciting and flipping fantastic because of its new location, but it means SO much admin. I have to figure out all the internet, phones, cabling and who even knows what. And obvs it all needs to be installed now before I have to leave. But then I also have like, actual work that I need to finish before I leave, so I’m feeling a bit of the pressure.
Watching: But look, let’s get something straight. No matter how hectic life is, I still get in some series or movie time because without it I can feel myself crumble. I need that time to completely zone out. I’m pretty sure it’s the reason that I am still sane.
13 REASONS WHY: Smashed this series in about a week. So many thoughts. Which means I totes blogged about that already so that I could move on with my life.
MISFITS: We’re still ploughing through Misfits and we’re on Season 4 I think. I enjoy it because it really is mindless comedy. I also really liked watching that weird Game Of Thrones guy as someone who is relatively normal.
GIRL BOSS: Something that I have been watching while Seth has been busy with a work project. I am enjoying it although I’m not really finding it gripping or anything. And I like the characters, but I don’t love them. Hoping that I will still get further into it the more I watch.
Using: There’s a few new products that I’m going to be trying out in the next month.
The first one is toothpaste in the form of a tablet. The story of why I found this is because a friend asked me if I knew where to get travel sized toothpaste. She mentioned that she’d looked everywhere and couldn’t find any. Then I asked my other friend and she mentioned these tablets that you get from Lush. I took Seth with me on our last date night and we went to go and buy the tablets. Then I got home and realised that normal tooth paste is like 75mls, which is under the limit of the “travel size” that toothpaste needs to be. So I laughed and laughed, but now we get something extra fun to try on our trip to Italy next week.
Then if you are still looking for a Mother’s Day present you should check out Daniel Wellington. If you buy any one of their leather strap watches right now, you will get a little heart with love written on it that fits into your strap. It’s too cute. I’m also really enjoying having a smaller faced watch compared to my favourite large faced one (also DW).
Enjoying: Anyone in Cape Town starting to feel the cold? So much so that when you leave in the morning your fingers actually just feel like frozen rocks? Where your children complain every single time you touch them? That’s where I am right now. It takes me 4 hours after getting to work to actually feel like a human again.
Anyway, the thing that is my saving grace right now, is coconut hot chocolate.
Yes you heard me.
Coconut hot chocolate.
It’s actually really easy. Take a saucepan, pour in one tin of coconut milk, fill the tin with water and pop that into the pan too. Then add cocoa powder to taste. I think mine quite chocolatey so I usually use at least one tablespoon of cocoa. Then add honey to taste. Let it simmer it on a medium heat until it thickens a bit. It’s really rich, so this makes enough for about 4 people to have a little bit. I used two tins yesterday and it could easily have supplied about 8 people or 10 if you used a bit more water and smaller mugs. I can never finish the whole mug full though, so don’t let your eyes be bigger than your belly.
Excited About: Italy.
We leave in exactly 9 days and I’d be lying if I said that I wasn’t counting down the seconds. I have probably packed about a million times in my head, we’ve booked everything except one tour and well, I’m just nervous. But here’s what’s really go me worried:
- I am supposed to get my period. But do you think that bugger has come on time this month? Nope! There’s a good chance that I may well have my red flow when we get to Italy. And that sucks. Because well, we’re celebrating 10 years being married without our children we might actually have energy for some sexy time while we’re away 😉
- Despite the things that I have packed in my head and all the warm clothing that I’ve recently bought for the trip, I’m so worried that I’m going to be cold the whole time we’re there. I’m not a nice person when I’m cold. Not at all.
- Despite having packed a million times in my head I’m terrible with actual washing. Which means that there’s a good chance that the things I want may still be in the wash by the time we leave. So I guess I’m going to have to do some washing tomorrow.
- I’m procrastinating of note. I know that I still have a crap load to do – download offline maps, make sure I have all the air bnb locations, write out an itinerary for my mom, do countdowns with the kids, actually pack, make sure the kids have everything that they need for school, finish up important stuff at work, handover things I cant finish…. But here I sit. Writing blog posts…
On that note, let me go and get something done.

Oh my! I am so jealous of your trip to Italy! One day hubby and I will be able to have a honeymoon! 10+ years and two kids later we are hoping this will be really soon! Until then Cape Town is fabulous even with this cold front coming! Thank you for your blog!
Lol. So funny
Some solutions to ur problems… Which p.s I’d take any day for a trip to Italy!! Hehe
Number 1. The pill. Speak to pharmacist about skipping red ones. Put off peak for a few weeks. No major danger
Number 2. One super warm, comfy jacket. One lightweight. Sorted for every occasion
Number 3. Don’t stress. Just wash every thing u want to take 2 days before. Wear black bag for 2 days prior… Lol… Or pjs
Number 4. Stop stressing… And stop writing ur blog. For just 1 day ??
Enjoy the trip!!! Jealous!!
