Every single time that I look at the Calendar I get a fright. How is it possible that we are already more than half way through March? We are seriously running out of time to get our lives sorted out but I’m not going to dwell on that. Like I mentioned in another post last week, the stress is what gets me moving and I’m definitely in action mode, so I’m not as worried as I was last week. Which is a relief because worrying is so overrated and useless. Beyond useless.
I thought I’d quickly just catch up on a few random things that have been happening around the purging and renovations.
Currently:
Doing: We have been setting aside a good chunk of time every weekend to DO something. This weekend we managed to buy some things for the camper (wallpaper that we’re going to put on the roof and glossy black paint – SAY WHAT? Yeah I know it might be a bit weird, but I think it’s going to be rad. We also bought some vynil flooring boards for the like, 4m2 that will need it). I really like the way it’s starting to come together – slowly but surely.
Because the paint is going to take a while to test (to see if we actually like it), we got stuck into cleaning out our bedroom cupboard. So far we managed a black bag each of clothing to be donated, a few odds and ends given to friends and another big black bag of recycling and we’re not even half way. Our room looks like a bomb hit it, but it’s actually making me feel at peace – WE’RE DOING SOMETHING!
Pleasantly Surprised: Quite a while back (on my Insta) I shared the before images of the pieces above. We’d been for a girls morning and after a shocking result of previous items not turning out nearly as well as I’d hoped, we went back to make sure these ones did. I’m really so happy with how well they turned out.
As usual it really helps to go prepared. I made an entire board on Pinterest with things that I wanted to try out. It might be worth checking out or finding other things that you enjoy before you actually go. Another tip is that when you think you have done enough coats of paint – you haven’t. Do another one. There is nothing worse that it not being thick enough and getting that washy/discoloured look.
I thought I was over it now, but since these turned out so well I want to go back haha!
New Recipe: Made a lekker butter chicken inspired curry that was actually meat free. Even my Mom enjoyed it – check out the news letter for more.
(Also don’t just me on those croutons OK?! I was having a phase of rebelliousness which I’m trying really hard to kick right now. It’s hard as hell!)
Watching: We’re going through a phase again. Watching stuff but not really enjoying it. Ugh. But we have had a few winners in the last month or so:
NEW GIRL – I know that I’m supposed to love Friends more than anything else, but I don’t. New Girl is my Friends and it’s just the absolute best!! I want to live in that loft.
JESSICA JONES – Watching the second season. Seth has managed to sleep through the end of every single episode so far. So that kinda gives you an idea of how riveting it is. In case you’re not picking up what I’m putting down, it’s not riveting at all. Sorry.
VIKINGS – There is a new season on DSTV catch up and it’s still one of the best series I’ve watched. I’m interested to see how far they are going to take it. I thought they wouldn’t be able to keep it going without Ragnar but I’m still hooked.
Enjoying: We had a little date night last week (or was it two weeks ago? – I’ve lost track). Anyway, we went back to the first place I ever enjoyed sushi which is Harbour House at the V&A. We also had the fillet carpaccio thing that was, wow, it was amazing. We went there before watching Black Panther which was also really great!!!
Franschhoek: It’s our 11 year anniversary on Wednesday so we are heading out for a couple of nights to celebrate without our children. Got to make the most of it while we can right? I’ve always wanted to go to Franschhoek and we’re finally doing it. Have you been there? What is the best or most exciting thing you have done there? Please share! Our plan was originally going to be a bit of hiking but with Seth’s messed up ankle I see more wine farms in our adventure now.
One last thing... I had my breakfast on a sweet potato instead of bread the other day and it was amazing! I don’t know why I have never thought of it. But it was so filling that I really didn’t miss the bread! WIN!

Franschhoek is one of my favourite places in this country. A wine farm within spitting distance no matter where you are – you can’t go wrong! My recommendation: Le Lude for some bubbles. Enjoy 🙂
Had a Jessica Jones binge day yesterday! Loving it!
Binge days are the absolute best!!
Franschhoek is amazinggggg! Go hungry and thirsty! If you’re into bubblies, phone ahead and arrange a tasting at Colmant. I love their place! Haute Cabrière is also a firm fav (bubbly & wine tasting with an epic view over the valley) – as are La Motte (excellent tasting and knowledge sharing from the team) and Leopards Leap (divine harvest table for lunch and setting in general). Walking around the town makes you feel as though you could almost be anywhere in the world! Definitely book wherever you decide to do dinners, just in case. Rickety Bridge is lovely too and has a delish restaurant (that is not super wildly priced, as some others can be)! The motor museum is a little way out of town, but worth a stop if you’re into old cars! I’ve never been on the wine tram, as we always just do our own thing, but heard it is quite fun! There are stunning places to have massages etc too, although they can be quite pricey, but treat yo’ self! There are also some limited places on the Entertainer, and if you’re able to drive up the pass and have sundowners or even just stop to take some pics, then definitely do that 🙂 Soz that these are all mainly food/drinks related haha. Have a fab stay! xx
I love all of those options – you are the best – thank you!! I think I’m going to have to make some booking this evening!
Pleasure, enjoy 🙂 xx
You must do the chocolate tasting tour and Sacred Dog is so yummy for brunch and a good coffee in Franschhoek. Enjoy
THANK YOU! Adding it to my list – so excited!
That sushi looks insane!! Yum – love these update posts x
YAY! I’m so glad you enjoy them – that sushi was even better than it looked 😉

Why not do the Franschhoek wine tram! Loads of fun and you can get from one wine farm to the next without having to drive! Win!!
We would totally have done that but it only works on the weekend which I am SUPER bummed about!!
