What’s Your Life Like? The Home Life Edition

While I’m being driven in to work in the morning (after we drop the kids off) – we only have one car, so my gorgeous man drops me off first before going in to work and then comes back at 2 to drop me at home again before going back to work – how’s that for love…  Or is it just cos we have no choice?!  No.  I think it’s love.  Any way I am seriously digressing from my point….

So as I am being driven in to work in the mornings I stare out my window at all the different people driving past, trying to guess what their lives could be like, what they do, what their families are like etc.  I put them into my own box, which is probably waaaaay off the truth.  I don’t know why I do this, but my guess is that I am too nosey for my own good.  But it got me thinking about things and what we take for granted in life or just how different peoples situations can be.

Thus the reason for this post.  I would love to get to know about the people that read our blog (good on you for sticking with us)…  So I thought about a few things that I think people wonder about the people that they read about that they don’t personally know very well (flip that was a long awkward sentence, but I’m not sure where to break it up).  I find that when I read peoples blogs I create an image in my mind of what they are like and what their lives are like, only to be proven very wrong with getting to know them.

I always wonder what it’s like to be my age with no kids, be a single mom, have 4 kids, have 10 kids etc.  It would be so great to know for realsies what it’s like from real life people!

Here are some questions that I have put together and answered for you to get to know us and for us to get to know you.  If you want to answer them on your own blog that would be cool and then (once I figure out how the cool people do it – I will link your blog back on this one…  Kinda like how it’s done here: The Gypsy Mama).

This one is mostly about home life, who are you what do you do, do you have kids/partner/husband/animals?

How old are you? 24

What do you do for a living?  I work half day as the Partner in an Insurance Brokerage and the rest of the day I spend with my kiddos!

Do you have a spouse/partner or are you divorced/single?  Married

How long have you been with your partner?  8 years

What does your partner do for a living?  Architectural Technologist

How much time do you spend with your partner?  The week day mornings are so hectic that I wouldn’t really call it time spent together, nor is the crazy feeding frenzy/bathtime/bedtime routine that happens when Seth gets home.  We mostly only spend real time together in the evenings from 8 or the weekends.  I absolutely love public holidays.

What religion are you?  We are Christians, but not just “Christians” – we are born again people who actively try to reflect the love of Jesus shown for us on the cross.  We often fail but thanks to God’s grace we are forgiven.

Do you and your partner share the same religious view?  Yes, thankfully we do.

Do you have children?  If so, how many? 2 gorgeous girls

How old were you when you had them?  I was 22 when Kyla arrived and 23 when Riya-Ray arrived.

Are you planning on having more kids?  We would both love to have a boy, so yes, at least one more Alfino bambino to come.

What type of housing situation do you have in relation to kids?  We are fortunate enough to have our own house that although it’s not perfect (by any means) it has enough space for us to live fairly comfortably.

Do you work or stay home and why?  I am able to get “the best of both worlds”, where working half day allows me to earn the necessary salary as well as spend valuable time with my munchkins.  My job is also flexible in that I am able to work from home when the girls aren’t well or whatever the need – I am very thankful for that.

What do you do with your kiddos when you are at work?  We are blessed with a loving and caring Grandmother that is retired but still willing to look after her 2 seriously active grandchildren (much thanks for Ga and Papa!!!).

What kind of car/s do you have?  We actually own a Clio, but have swapped it with Seth’s parents – so now we drive a Renault Laguna.  The reason for the swap is that if you pack in the pram and 2 kids, Seth had to sit on the steering wheel and you couldn’t fit in anything else in the car.  We only have one car, so once I’m home I am pretty much stuck there.

Do you have pets?  Yes we have 2 lovely Labradors that the girls love (but Kyla is beginning to get scared of – only because of their tails knocking her over far too much).

Do you have domestic help?  How often?  We are truly blessed to be able to have Kaya and Sandiswa who come to us twice a week (Tuesday and Friday).  I seriously do not think I would cope with everything without them.

So I haven’t figured out how to be awesome, but my friend Liz was nice enough to do the answers on her blog.  Check it out.  She is a Stay At Home Mom to gorgeous Elijah.
