I Suppose This Is What You Get…

I suppose this is what you get when you tell an almost 3 year old obsessed with pink, that they can choose a dress for being such a big girl and FINALLY doing a poop on the toilet.  Yes! – it has happened and we are all very excited about that event, but I cannot say that I am at all excited for this one…

Yesterday we went to Canal Walk and told Kyla that she can finally pick out her big girl dress and we would buy it for her.  Because we had been going on about it for a while now, I already knew that the dress would be pink…  Which I guess is ok, although I’m more of a grey with pink trimmings girl myself.  But unfortunately, no amount of talking about it could really prepare me for the final choice…

Let loose on Woolies, with only her father to guide her she comes to me an shows me this beautiful monstrosity…

No…  You don’t need to get your eyes checked (except maybe from the ugly glare) the “blurry” top does indicate that, yes, the top part is indeed velvet.  And although you may not be able to see it, the bottom is completed covered in pink glitter…  Needless to say that words evaded me at this point and I struggled with ruining her happiness and telling her that it was so hideous I could happily let her poo in it and throw it away, rather than purchase it for her, or to indulge her in her new pink obsession.  I don’t get it.  I just don’t.  Actually, I won’t get it.  But after seeing how attached to it she was in just a few minutes, I just couldn’t say no to her…  Plus I promised she should choose it…  So this is what she will be wearing on Mother’s Day – parading around the Waterfront as we go out for lunch…  (Pictures of her actually in it to follow)

On that note, a very happy Mother’s Day to all you Mom’s out there.  And if by change there are some Dad’s that read this then go and spoil your Baby Mommy now!

If you are not too keen to keep reading about poop, this would be the time to tune out…  But if you are like me and enjoy a bit of a laugh, then keep reading…

Kyla managed to do the first poop all by herself by just sitting on the toilet for an extended period of time – but it happened and that, my friends is all that matters.  The next morning she did it again!  And by the afternoon she was a seasoned veteran.  During our little play date that we had at our house, she mentioned to me that she needed the loo, so off we rushed for the new adventure.  It was taking sometime, and I sat on the bath and we chatted while we waited.  Then all of a sudden she says, “Poopoo Mommy” and a loud and distinct plop hits the water in the loo.  Seconds later she had the weirdest expression on her face and it took me another second to realise that she must have had a bit of a backsplash from the plop and some water had come up and hit her bum.  Her expression was clearly, “no one told me about this little bit of important information!!”  I couldn’t control the laughter at her face and luckily she joined in laughing.

[…] put her new pink, velvety, sparkly dress on for her – if you missed out how that happened check this.  She literally squealed with excitement for each arm going in and then buttoning it up.  She is […]
