A Day In The Life Of The Alfino'sFrom MomMemorable Moments

It’s Pretty Cold And Dark Over Here

For the past 2 nights (and the day time in between too) we have had no power.  Niks, nada, nothing.  And no Eskom, I don’t take those 5 minutes here and there in between as all power being restored and life being back to normal.  You don’t fool me.

And in case you didn’t know, this is possibly the coldest it’s ever been in Cape Town.  Like ever.  We even had snow.  OK, maybe not real snow, but enough hail to be able to make scary snowmen out of it and that’s all that really counts.

Not to mention the incessant rain, minus 100 degree temperatures and occasional thunder storms.  Which according to Riya, is actually a panda bear that just happened to be stuck in our roof.  Maybe I’m not feeding him enough and that why he’s growling all the time.  Anyway, steer clear of our roof all the same.

Keeping 3 tiny children entertained in the cold and dark is lots of fun.  In between making snow angels in the lounge in our condensed breath that’s turned to snow, we have started betting stray Nik Naks on who will lose the first toe to frost bite.

It’s been fun y’all.

On another more serious note, Knox is still not better.  I’m at a complete and utter loss as to what to do and it’s driving me insane.  I hate not being able to make him better.  It’s an awful form of cruel and unusual punishment watching my kid scream when I look at him.

I’m hoping it’s his teeth coming out that’s causing the temperature and upset, but maybe he is the one that is losing his toe first.  Which means that I lose the bet.  My money was totally on Riya and her insistent need to wear ballet shoes all the time.

Anyway, I’m off to make a fire in the middle of the lounge with any toys that I can find. I’m pretty sure that Sophie and Rosie’s hair will make awesome kindling.

Pleased to meet you. Hopped over from you Dad’s blog. Sorry about the weather down there. Don’t suppose it’ll make you feel any better to know that it’s warm and sunny skies up here in Gauteng? 😀

Thanks for popping over! Enjoy your warm sunniness while you can, I hope that our storm doesn’t move on up the country to take it all away.

Just popping in from Umhlanga. I really don’t envy your weather at the moment, and as for Eskom……well I’d better not say what I think about them. Hope you get warmer soon, and do be careful with that fire. 🙂

Brrrr. Sorry about the uncharacteristic weather. The world of weather if up-side down or sideways.

I like reading your post. You’re funny. I think you’re a perfect chip off the old block (dad).
