Upcycle Your Old Christmas Wreath

This year is vastly different to the last, um, I dunno, 8 years of our marriage, in that we don’t have our tree up yet.

I could easily blame this on life, but in fact we’re holding out for a real tree.  And by we’re, I mean Seth.  If it were up to me we’d have all the bells and whistles up already.  At least I think we would.  But I haven’t even had a chance to put up all the other decor yet so who am I really fooling here?

Anyway.

We’ve had a wreath hanging on the front of our door since Christmas last year, or maybe even the year before.  It was never really anything worth looking at before but a couple of years in the sun have made it pretty sorry to look at now.  Then after they broke in and smashed the front gate and door, we’ve had it sitting on our back yard table (that’s actually made up of the old smashed door – we’re always keen to recycle and what not).

The result is that I have been looking at this old, ugly, sorry for itself wreath for too long.

It was finally time to do something about it.

So I popped into my local Pick n Pay (they had more protea type flowers than Woolies did) and I bought two bunches of flowers that looked like they may stay green instead of turning brown without water.

Then I cut small pieces off and started weaving them into the existing framework of the wreath.  I’m SO chuffed with how it turned out and it only took 30 minutes!

Here’s to upcycling our old wreaths this Christmas!
