We Got The Snip

Oh no hang on.  We didn’t get that snip.  Despite the prescription from my gynie after we had Knox, Seth still has all of his swimmers in the race, if you know what I mean.

Now that we’ve cleared that up, I can show you what we snipped.

Honestly, I have been putting this off for months.  Every time Kyla mentioned that she wanted to cut her hair into a bob, I pretended the kitchen was on fire or that I saw a spider.  One time I was so desperate to change the conversation that I smacked myself across the face.  Anything was better than to acknowledge that she wanted to chop off all of her beautiful mermaid hair.

But then the other day we were all in the car together and there was no escape.  We chatted about it, chatted about how it was going to change and that it would take a while to grow back, and then before I could lose my nerve, we went home and I chopped it all off myself.

Then Riya wanted just a little trim that turned into her wanting a bob too!  So they both said goodbye to their long locks.  I think I am even more emotional about this than I was about her starting Grade 1.  Because I have logical emotions.  Not.

So we said goodbye to this:

And welcomed in a new phase of short hair.

I don’t know why I was so worried.  I love their new hair – being able to jump into the pool without having nightmares about having to wash it afterwards is making us all better people.  They both lost like a whole kilogram in weight, so they must have been rather weighed down with their Rapunzel hair.

The only negative?  Struggling to tie it up when they’re eating or messing.

If you’re considering cutting of your little persons hair, check out the post by my friend Tracey on how you can donate it to the great cause of making wigs for cancer patients.  Unfortunately in my haste to just do it without losing my courage, the hair wasn’t in the right condition to donate it 🙁

I’m making mistakes so you don’t have to!  It’s a pleasure.

Like what you’ve read here?  That’s flipping awesome – feel free to share it with your friends.  Also come hang out with me on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram where you can find us a whole lot of this – just shorter.

Oh they look cute! A cuts her hair into a bob every year after her ballet exam and then it grows again until the next year. I just always see that it is cut long enough to at least make a ponytail for school
