SA BLOG AWARDS – Best Parenting Blog 2015 – That’s US!

Guys.

There are many things that I have been hoping to achieve in my life and more specifically with my slice of the internet pie.  Most of these things revolve around recording our memories in a fun way to look back on, connecting with other Moms going through the same things and producing words worth reading.

If you’ve ever dipped your toe into the realm of blogging, you’ll know that although the end product may look like a big, moist, delicious chocolate cake – it took a lot of preparing, mixing and baking to get there.  Not to mention the finicky icing and eye catching toppings you add at the end to make it pop.  Look, I’m as confused as you as to why I’m using a baking analogy to explain blogging, but it might have something to do with the fact that I’m starving.  Maybe.  I can’t get that massive chocolate cake – that the kid in Matilda eats – out of my mind.  It looked amazing didn’t it.  All chocolatey and delicious. Mmmm.

Anyway, the point of all this?  I’ve poured my heart and soul into getting this blog cake perfect.  Didn’t scrimp on ingredients, made sure I set out the time to do it properly and guys, it’s paid off.

A couple of days ago they announced the winners of the SA Blog Awards and to my surprise, my little blog WON the “Best Parenting Blog” category for 2015.

Best Parenting Blog 2015 - 3 Kids, 2 Dogs and 1 Old House

I’ve said before, on my other social platforms, that I feel like I should have some kind of acceptance speech at the ready.  But there’s no getting around the fact that as much work as I put in, I have you to thank for taking a slice and letting me know that you’ve enjoyed it.  So there is really only one thing to say and that’s a huge big thank you to all of you that take the time to stop by and having some cake with me.

Also, what would a parenting blog be without a bunch of little people to complain, uh, I mean talk about.  So thank you to my sweet little people who still get excited being the photographer, who enjoy playing the fool in front of the camera and who constantly put me in my place when, for brief moments, I get too consumed in this space.  I’m human.  It happens.  And of course to Seth who sees the other end of the scale, the one filled with self doubt and worry, who never fails to pick me up and help me move on.  You’re all the best – I love you.

In situations like these, I always default to making excuses on how they could have chosen me.  I mean seriously, why me?  The excuses always go something like this: “they must have made a mistake” or “not everyone was in the race, if they were I wouldn’t have won”, but you know what?  This time, just this once, I’m going to just take it and celebrate because gosh darn it, I won!

Here’s to more decadent chocolate cake!

I don’t only dish out chocolate cake on this space, so come hang out with me and have tea on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram where you can find us a whole lot of this – just shorter.
