Entertain The Kids: Good Housekeeping Family Fun Day on 10 April

Are you as sick of keeping the kids busy as I am?

I know that the holidays are technically almost over and we can breathe a big sigh of relief as we send them off to school next week, but what about weekends?

Granted, we might have raised our kids the wrong way so far. None of them are home bodies.  When given the choice to stay home or go out they will ALWAYS choose to go out. Obviously we’ve fostered this love for the outdoors/adventure/shopping as we’ve taken them out shopping with us since they were like 2 days old.  Apparently we have no chill, which is why I probably shouldn’t expect my kids to either. So, we tend to indulge them because Seth and I have a mutual love for going out and throwing away money like…

I don’t know when last you’ve taken your kids out anywhere? Maybe you have a different situation to us, but ours goes a little something like this: We feed them their own meals and ensure that they are fully topped up with something to drink, they need R5 for the tattoo machine and then another R10 for the ride, which they obviously want to go on twice, upon walking out the front door of the restaurant they will immediately complain that they are hungry or thirsty. We walk past another ride that we need to fork out another handful of change for. They complain that they need food again. The cycle continues till I die.

So when I see an event that will entertain my kids for the whole day for the price of R20 you better believe I’m all over that.

In a couple of Sundays time, the 10th of April to be specific, it’s the Good Housekeeping brightFuture Family Fun Day out at Backsberg Estate Cellars, SA’s first carbon-neutral wine estate.

Not only will the kids be entertained for the whole day with 30 different kids activities (think amazing prizes, craft stations, petting zoo, balloon animals, face painting and jumping castles), there will also be food trucks and wine tasting for the adults all while listening to the tunes of GOODLUCK and TouchWood.  A winning combination if ever I saw one.

Plus, there’s the added benefit that the day will also focus on discovering how we can build a better world for future generations and the important role that children need to play in South Africa.  Something all parents should be considering as we bring up the next generation.

My eldest will probably love the petting zoo the most while the youngest will just run around and squeal at everything he sees.

Petting Zoo and Face Painting all the way! If my daughter could be holding a bunny and having her face painted at the same time, she will be in kiddy heaven 🙂

Liam is balloon nuts! He might also try to love (strangle) the animals at the petting zoo 😉 Eli just enjoys staring at trees, so he will LOVE Backsberg!
