5 Things I Can’t Live Without

hellooooo

Besides my husband, my kids and my family is there anything else that I just can’t live without?

I guess I’m supposed to say that there isn’t, but like, you only YOLO once hey guys.  (You need to say that in your head with the thickest “gym bro” accent you can muster for it to make sense.  Then picture me saying it a million times to anyone who bothers to listen to me.  So no one.)

Anyway…

Even though they are obviously important, I do have a few other sneaky indulgences that I can’t live without!

1. NIK NAKS

Their stinky cheesiness is my vice.  The stinkier the better.  Especially those little Nik Nakatjies at the bottom that are so full of MSG and poison you could probably make a really effective bomb out of them.  In fact that’s the only reason I eat them at all – for those bits at the bottom!  Eaten alone or enjoyed with some dark chocolate or strong Milo is basically a small piece of sacred time in which nothing else matters.  It’s so powerful that for a moment I can literally not even hear the sounds of my children ripping each other to pieces.  It’s great.

2.  FOOD IN GENERAL

Let’s be honest – I love to eat.  It’s why date nights always involve a new restaurant.  Granted I may not be the most adventurous person, BUT I do love to shove food in my face.  A few of my favourite things…  A perfectly basted medium fillet steak, bacon, mushroom and avo pizzas, cheese burgers, sushi, creamy pasta, cheese, a freshly baked loaf of bread with lots of butter, potatoes in any way, shape or form, butter chicken and garlic naan, chocolate chip biscuits and a glass of milk, Nik Naks, any chips actually.  Woah, it’s clear from that list that I have a small carb fetish.  But whatevs.  YOLO am I right?!

3.  A GOOD BOOK

A truly good book can never be underestimated.  Ever.  It’s a wonderful thing to be transported away from your current situation and the pressures of life.  I adore being able to immerse myself in a World that is not my own, to learn new things and challenge my views.  It’s my only “hobby” outside of this space here.  Actually it’s gotten to the point that if I am not currently reading a book I actually feel like I’m missing something important.  It’s better for everyone that I read really – I’m a better person.

4. A LITTLE WINE BREAK

Look, I’m not into condoning downing a glass of wine every single time you have a bad day (because um, alcoholics do that).  BUT I am into enjoying a glass or two of red wine (NOT white – gross) or a cold Savannah (dark).  Because I’m an adult.

But I’m also Jess…200

5. GIRL CHATS

There really isn’t anything more therapeutic than meeting up with your favourite women and pouring out little pieces of your heart.  Laughing, chatting, crying whatever.  It’s great.  I don’t get to do it nearly as often as I’d like to because life often gets in the way, but I do want to change that eventually.

With you on the Niknaks. My one friend commented on my FB post about me enjoying my cheese and wine. I loved that 🙂 At the moment (and only for the last 6 weeks or so) my one other indulgence is Switch Playground. Love going and working out to loud music and someone shouting at me that I can do it!!!

I agree on every single one apart that I love Cheesenaks with my chocolate. And although I am partial to red wine I adore the new dry pinks
