Life In The Van – Captured By Zorann Elizabeth #Vanlife

Despite the first month or so in the van being a challenging time, I think we are finally in the swing of it.  Everything has its own place in the van, most things fit and we have a rhythm going that keeps the days flowing smoothly.  (On that note, we did a little Before and After of the van to see how we altered it to accommodate the five of us, if you want to take a look).

We have all grown so much since the start of this adventure.  More than just adjusting to living with less and in a cramped space.  I’m talking about socially, emotionally and mentally.  We’ve worked on things that living in a small space seems to amplify dramatically, like sharing and showing love despite wanting to punch a hole in the wall.  We’ve developed a surprising sense of calm when creatures invade the van (think spiders, geckos, the occasional wasp) and a tolerance for the most disturbing ablutions in South Africa.  We’ve learned to work together to make it all work.  It’s been a notable phase in our family.

It’s such a significant time of our lives, such a big life changing year that when Zorann offered to capture some moments of us while we were in Pumula, we jumped at the chance.  I love taking pictures of our day to day life on the road and sharing them on Instagram and Facebook, but there’s something special about the normal moments being captured when I might actually feature in a picture that’s not another selfie.

So I’ll leave you with these absolute gems.  Even though my kids were absolute chops that morning (granted they hadn’t had breakfast, we woke them up early and they had had a really late night the night before) but still, they were not happy.  What amazed me, is how Zorann was so calm about it and still managed to capture such lovely images.  If you are down South of Durban, this is your woman!

Enjoy!!

I’ve seen some of these pics posted to Instagram, but man. Your family is gorgeous, Cindy! It’s so much fun following along as you guys take this amazing adventure in your stride. It’s really inspiring me to be less of a control freak and adventure with my kid more often!

These photo’s are absolutely incredible! They should be a Country Road ad or something. I think it is so amazing what you guys are doing… I would lose my mind. You can be very proud that you have such a strong family unit ♥

Yup – it’s pretty much a given that if it’s old it will break down a lot
