Good Old Uncle Paul’s

If you live in Cape Town and have not heard about Uncle Paul’s (or their companions – Uncle Willy’s or The Noddy Party), may I ask you which rock you are currently living under?  No, but really.  Wait, wait, I get it.  Maybe hay fights, ice cream for supper and singing Christmas carols in the dark is not your thing.  I mean I don’t understand that AT ALL, but it’s OK, you’re allowed to not be into it.

Me on the other hand?  I’m ALL IN!

My brother and I went to Uncle Paul’s when we were growing up and so I was adamant to keep this tradition with our kids.  I mean it’s one of the only things that I remember about Christmas time growing up (that’s not a reflection on my parents, it’s a reflection on my terrible memory).  But the thing is, it has to be pretty darn amazing for me to remember things from so long ago and yet, Uncle Paul’s is still crystal clear in my mind.

Weirdly enough, it’s actually where I learned that Father Christmas wasn’t real!  We’d been to the shop where my mom said that I could choose anything I wanted, so I selected this eye shadow kit and popped it into the trolley.  Imagine my surprise when I got the very same thing from Father Christmas!  I thought I was the luckiest girl ever getting two of the same thing, so I ran up to my Mom to show her and that’s when she broke the news.  I wasn’t bitter, although I was a bit disappointed.  I still felt awesome because I was the only one there that knew it wasn’t real.

Anyway, this year did not lose any of its magic.  We had the best time together – smashing each other with hay!  Watch out for Kyla, she has a killer arm and NO mercy!

FLASHBACK TO LAST YEAR…

My goodness! The other day it was mentioned on Smile Radio, but not saying where/when etc. I tried to google but found nothing. Please PLEASE give more info – even if it means I have to wait till next year!

Thanks

I was also looking for info on it. Would’ve loved to take my boys. So jealous of everyone’s photos and sad that my kids miss out on another year ?

Love your photos though. The hay throwing looks the bomb!
